HERE ARE SOME FACTS:
Jesus Christ is the Way. All other paths are dead-ends.
He is the Truth. All other propositions are a lie.
He is the Life. Anything apart from Jesus Christ is death. (Jn 14:6)
And Jesus tells us that He is the Light: “I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (Jn 8:12)
Why do we need this Light? What is so bad about living in this world?
This world… is under the deceit of half-truths… distractions… moral relativism… and, most of all, the cult of “self.” All of this is the darkness. The world tries to teach us that WE are the center of our existence–how we “feel” about something…. what “seems fair” to us… this suddenly becomes “our truth”… We can easily start to FALSELY believe we are in control. But, when you live to serve yourself first, in reality, you are a slave to the god of this world. (Mat 6:24; Jn 8:34) And Satan hates you, so he will continue to lie and try destroy your hope for true life. Because evil has no life, so it distorts all of God’s good works.
This distortion started some time after Creation. “Ye shall not surely die.” (Gen 3:4) And with that lie, every good thing that God set apart for us was tainted. Worst of all, our unending communion with HIM was broken. Why? Because God is HOLY (Ex 15:11; 1 Sam 2:2) and when we don’t obey Him (Rom 7:12-14), when we don’t have faith (we disbelieve), it’s sin (John 5:24; Heb 11:6). Our Most Holy God CANNOT coexist with sin. And with the fall of Adam and Eve, the very nature of who He created became inextricably sinful. This means eternal separation from Him and a guaranteed fate of eternal death. That’s what sin meant then and that’s what it means today = separation and death. And no amount of good deeds can earn our salvation from this.
BUT GOD… in His unending mercy, doesn’t want us to be slaves to sin. He doesn’t want our destruction. We are MADE in His image. He LOVES us. So He made the Way, the Truth, and the Life possible through the physical sacrifice of our Lord Jesus-Christ–God Himself in the flesh (Jn 10:30-33), who was perfectly righteous before the holiness of God. He became sin itself and accepted to bear the just wrath of God upon sin (2 Cor. 5:21) in our place. (1 John 2:2)
Through the blood of Jesus, we are RESTORED to our inheritance in God and we are RECONCILED to be in the joy of His presence for all eternity. (2 Cor 5:19; 1 Tim 2:5; Col 1:21) When we believe in Jesus Christ as the reality that He is, and when we ask Him to be our Savior and we ask Him to be our Lord, we are RECLAIMED so that Satan has no more authority over us. (John 14:30) It’s not a “story”–this is reality–it’s the truth that the evil of this world tries to keep us from believing and proclaiming. (Eph 6:12)
In the Day of Judgement, we will give account for our actions. (2 Cor 5:10) This world and everything of it is destined for death. But while we are on this earth, we can come to God in humble REPENTANCE and ask for forgiveness for our sins in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ. If we ask Jesus to dwell in us and we in Him, the Father (the Righteous Judge) can look upon us as if WE were righteous.
We can trust Jesus Christ and what He has done for us. He will give us a new heart and mind. We will no longer be slaves to a lifestyle of sin or slave to eternal death. This isn’t talking about “sinless perfectionism”–we will struggle, and be tempted, and sometimes fall. But… if we fall, we get up and continue to walk after Christ. Not by our own abilities or goodness, but by the POWER of God’s Holy Spirt that will dwell in us. (Phil 2:13)
And what God has been impressing upon me lately is that the Gospel comes down to this: Because of what Jesus Christ did for you and me, He gave us the victory and freedom to crucify the flesh. This freedom is so that, instead of focusing and serving ourselves, we can be unencumbered to LOVE. To love God and to love each other. Really think about this.
You can stand up in the power of Jesus Christ!
God has put before us life and death. Choose life. True life. Serve God for He is worthy!
Romans 3:22 “We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.”
Romans 8:1 “There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
Galatians 5:13 “do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another out of love.”
