One of the biggest scams in the world: “Follow your heart.” And by the time you finish reading this, you will know who the “unknown” author of this quote is.
I’m sure you’ve heard it–they put this in into many, many movies and shows (it’s part of the mind programming).
You don’t know what to do with your life? …. Just follow your heart.
You don’t know whether doing something is wrong or right? … Just follow your heart.
What does your heart tell you? What feels “right” to you? That is YOUR truth. Welcome to the liberated world!
Do you know why?
Because “your heart” is the last thing you want to trust. “Your heart” is your flesh. It’s your natural sinful desires. No, it’s not “sin” as in planning to kill someone or building an altar to a golden calf. It’s sin as in doing your own thing, where you are who you answer to. This is the worship of SELF. You are your own standard…. How can it be wrong if it feels so right?
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
If we live to please our fleshly, natural hearts, we are digging our way to hell with an excavator.
“I, Yahweh, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17:10)
No other gods before Yahweh, the LORD. That includes anything you make into an idol: sports teams, addictions, t.v. shows, money, or YOURSELF. Who do you answer to?
You will be judged. I will be judged. If we are not covered by the righteousness of Jesus Christ, we are IN TROUBLE. And you can’t get out of it with a “I just did what I thought was right” or “Well, I never killed anybody.” And since you are reading this, you cannot claim ignorance.
Believe in who Jesus Christ is and what He did for YOU. If you’re not sure about how you can know this, ASK HIM. He will show you. Repent sincerely. That also means, turn away from your sin and resolve in your heart not to go back to it. Ask God to forgive in Jesus’ name. Ask Jesus to help you have victory over sin and ask Him to be your Shepherd. Ask for the Holy Spirit to dwell in you. Jesus will give you a NEW heart and He will put the right desires in it, even if we occasionally stumble. “My yoke is easy,” He said, “and my burden is light.” Jesus will give you His peace along with True Life. Anything apart from Jesus is death, my friend.
This fake freedom of “follow your heart” will double-cross you, if it hasn’t already. Seek Jesus.
P.S. This idea of “follow your heart” comes from the slogan “Do what thou wilt”–the core of the Thelemic philosophy. Some info about it from Wikipedia HERE. Basically, it’s the idea of rebellion, which we know comes from Satan. In fact, it’s related to what Satanists practice: self-worship. It’s true–look it up.
