Surviving a Deceitful World

Now Give Me the Good News.

We were created by God to be with Him in intimate communion for all of eternity. He gave us every good thing in the beauty and perfection of Creation. (Genesis 1:26-29) And He loved us so much that He formed us in His own image (Gen. 1:26). But, best of all, Man lived in perfect harmony with God, just as He desired and intended.  God’s one request was to keep away from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, because eating from it would result in death.

But the devil was a liar from the beginning. His goal has been, and continues to be, to distort the character of God and to destroy us with His lies (1 Peter 5:8). So, when Adam and Eve believed the devil over God and chose to disobey God, sin cut off that perfect communion they had with Him. No longer could Man be in the presence of a Holy God, because sin made the nature of Man and of God unable to coexist. We were FOREVER separated at that point. Our inheritance of eternal life and communion with God was replaced by one of death and eternal separation from God.  And there was absolutely nothing that could be done to change that. In fact, there is still NOTHING anyone can do even today to change that. Our good deeds will not save us; our sacrifices will not save us; our religiosity will not save us.

But God didn’t WANT us to be lost and to be slaves to sin and its consequences. So, He made a way. THE ONLY Way. So that Man could be with God once again and be restored to the original inheritance which He prepared for us. This Way is Jesus Christ, and there is no other by which we may be saved (Acts 4:10-12).

The Lord Jesus, God Himself in the flesh (John 10:30-33), who never sinned and was perfectly righteous before the holiness of God, accepted to become sin itself and bear the just wrath of God upon sin (2 Cor. 5:21). ALL of God’s wrath for EVERY sin from EVERYONE was upon Him. He did this in substitution of us and what we JUSTLY should have payed. In this substitution, the Father can now look upon us as if WE were righteous, just like Jesus is righteous. With the resurrection of Jesus, we have the promise of eternal life again with God because the price was paid. It is not deserved and it is not earned. The free gift of salvation is for all those who believe in Christ Jesus. We are reclaimed so that Satan has no more authority over us. (John 14:30)

What is the evidence of our genuine heart-felt belief in the salvation given by the Lord Jesus? It is the way our lives are forever changed because He makes us NEW CREATIONS. BELIEF in the Lord Jesus and what He accomplished for us means REPENTANCE (turning away) from our sins. By the power of the Holy Spirit who now dwells in us, we will no longer be slaves to sin or its consequence of eternal death. The chains are broken! We are free! Not by our own abilities, but by the mighty POWER of God who puts the right desires in our hearts. (Philippians 2:13) No matter what we have done in our old lives, the Almighty God is mighty to save, and He will absolutely save you. (Zephaniah 3:17) If we fall, we get up and continue walking after Christ.

Ask for forgiveness (1 John 1:9), repent from sin (Ezekiel 18:31-32), and live by the words of Jesus (John 12:48). You are wanted back by God and He made THE way! (John 3:16)
