Surviving a Deceitful World

I remember back when…

  • I used to rationalize unrighteous behavior by blaming God for not making Truth completely evident…
  • I used to think that people should respect what seemed fair to me…
  • I used to believe any religion was acceptable as long as it encouraged people to do good…
  • I used to buy into the “love-love-love”… all that matters is love and acceptance…
  • I used to think that faith could not stand up to reason…

It is quite something to see all the ways in which we try to run away from the simple truth of life. Because, truth is, life is simple.

Seriously.

But we LOOOOVE to make all issues seem oh-so-complex and sophisticated. We pride ourselves in our powers of philosophy and convoluted confusion. We pride ourselves in our open-mindedness. We argue that we need hard evidence before proceeding. If that’s the case for you, you’re going to die paralyzed in place. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth. Because all issues come down to this: Is it right before the eyes of God? That’s it. That’s where the buck stops. Don’t worry about how you FEEEEEL about it (we seem think that’s SO important) or what seems right to us.

Well, how do we supposedly know what is “right” before God, you ask?

We know what is right before God when and only when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit.  I’m not talking about when you answer the altar call and they dip you in water and say “I now baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, etc.” (not to say it’s not valuable or that you can’t receive the Holy Spirit at that moment)  Beyond the physical symbolical act of baptism, I’m talking about the supernatural baptism into the Holy Spirit.  This is our assurance of salvation from God—the seal of the Holy Spirit, which guides us in a completely real way. It’s not “Well, I had a feeling about this or that, so I’m guessing that’s the Holy Spirit.” When you get it, you know it. And your life is changed forever because you will finally begin to understand how disgusting sin is to God.  You will want to avoid it instead of embrace it. And, even though we may fall into it on occasion, we will YEARN to re-establish our relationship with God right away. And even though we may be in error sometimes, the Holy Spirit will show us so that we may repent and ask for forgiveness.

Can we dissolve that seal and fall away from God? Sure.  But this takes outright willful rebellion against God.

Do you have the seal of God? If you are not sure, pray and seek out God’s will in sincerity until you get it.

Ephesians Chapter One:

13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
